NINTH VERSE OF THE EPIC OF BEOCHICKEN

THE EPIC OF BEOCHICKEN is a project I've forgotten multiple times, but that's no reason not to finish things. I need to put the project page back on the site so I can keep track of these things and you can find these things I've spread out over so many years.

BEOCHICKEN Verse IX

DARK EYES AND HUNGER ABOVE THE BRAVE FLOCK
THE FOWL FACED THE FOX AND BEOCHICKEN SPOKE
BAWK BAWK BAKAWK
THE FOX RAGED AT THE CALL OF MIGHTIEST OF FOWL
BEOCHICKEN STRUCK OUT FIRST
THE PAW OF THE FOX BEAT HIM BACK
BEOCHICKEN LASHED BACK WITH BEAK AND TALON
THE BEASTS MAW DESCENDED
THE LARGEST OF THE FLOCK
FORSAKING LIFE AND SEEKING HONOR
WILLINGLY DIVING INTO THE JAWS
BRAVE FAT BIRD WAS SACRIFICED
OLD BEOCHICKEN WAS ENRAGED
TALONS MET EYES AS TEETH MET FLESH
THE MIGHT OF BEOCHICKEN TORE THE FOX
BOTH SIDES WERE BLOODIED AND THE THE BEAST FLED BACK
THE BODY OF BRAVE FAT BIRD LEFT BEHIND
THE FIRST TO FALL AMONG THE BRAVE AND MAD FLOCK
VERDANT FOWL SPREAD WINGS WIDE AND SPOKE
CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK
AND THUS SHARPBEAK SPOKE
BAWK BAWK BAWK
ALL THE FLOCK CROWED THE WORDS
CRUEL AND GREEDY FOX WAS ENRAGED
THE MAW OF THE MIGHTY BEAST CAME DOWN
THE VERDANT FOWL STRUCK THE BEAST
AND VERDANT FOWL STRUCK AGAIN
FOR ONLY REVENGE THE VERDANT FOWL STRUCK
EVEN AS THE MAW SHUT THE VERDANT FOWL STRUCK
SHARPBEAK LOOSED HIS MIGHTY BEAK UPON THE BEAST
BLOOD FEATHER AND BLOODIED BEOCHICKEN STRUCK
WISE AND OLD AN ATTACK FROM THE SIDE
SPURS OF COMBLAF AND WINGBOLD STRUCK THE FRONT
FOR THE FINAL TIME VERDANT FOWL SPOKE
BAWK BAWK BAKAWK
THE JAW CRUSHED THE BRAVE FOWL
THE VERDANT FOWL PASSED
THE MAD AND BRAVE FLOCK CROWED AT THE FOX
FEATHER AND TOOTH
FUR AND BEAK
THE MAD AND BRAVE FLOCK FOUGHT

SEVENTH AND EIGHTH VERSES OF THE EPIC OF BEOCHICKEN

The Epic of Beochicken was... sorry, that's wrong...

THE EPIC OF BEOCHICKEN was one of the pieces I started back when I was in school. As I recall I wrote the first entry when I was in a literature class and had to read the Epic of Gilgamesh again. I mentioned it to a friend and we discussed Beowulf which is clearly meant to be read in a mighty roar of full caps.

I plan to finish this one, even though the last entry in the series was back in 2014 and it started in 2013. I feel like in a lot of ways 2015 was a lull in Chicken Maker and I want to start things back up as we lead up to the site's anniversary. Project Page updated so you can go through it from the start there.

Verse VII
FOR MORE THAN AN AGE THE FOX STOOD TALL
THE MIGHTY FOX TORE DOWN ANY FLOCK
ALONE AND WITHOUT REAL THREAT
IN THE DISTANT AND RECENT TIMES
MANY FOWL FACED THE FOX
MANY FOWL FELL TO IT
FEW HAD LUCK TO ONLY BE MAIMED
ENDLESS FEATHER AND FUR TORN ASUNDER
THE JAW OF THE BEAST WAS FILLED
MEAT WHITE AND DARK SATE THE DARK HUNGER
THE FOX STOOD UNCHALLENGED
NOT SATED BY SLAUGHTER
BURIED IN THE DEN OF THE FOX
THE TREASURES OF NATURE
AND THE TREASURES OF FOWL
THE HOARD OF THE FOX GREW
THE FLOCKS OF WARRIORS GREW
THE FOX SLAUGHTERED
THE FOX GAINED VAST RICHES
MORE FOWL FORCES CAME TO TAKE IT
MORE FOWL FELL AS THE FOX FED
THE MIGHT OF THE FOX DID NOT FALTER
IT DID NOT SLOW IT DID NOT STOP
NO MATTER THE FLOCK THE CAME FORTH
NO MATTER THE MIGHT OF THE FOWL
THE MIGHTY FOX TORE DOWN ANY THREAT
THE MIGHTY FOX STOOD ALONE

Verdant Fowl and Comblaf
Verse VIII
AGAINST THE DARKNESS
AND INTO THE NIGHT HE LED
BUT NO MORE FOR THE MIGHTIEST OF FOWL
BEOCHICKEN COMES FOR THE FIENDISH FOX
FEW FOOL FOWL STAND BY BEOCHICKEN
THE FINEST FIGHTING FLOCK UNDER WITH ENDLESS MIGHT
NO LONGER A WEE SQUIRE COMBLAF
SON OF THE CHILD OF THE FATHER OF THE FATHER OF BEOCHICKEN
THE MIGHTY OLD FOE VERDANT FOWL
BOLD SURVIVOR OF A NOW LOST FLOCK
WINGBOLD FAT BIRD SHARPBEAK BLOOD FEATHER
MAD BIRDS OF THE HONOR GUARD OF BEOCHICKEN
ONLY TWO CLAWS OF FOWL FOLLOWED
THE FOLLOWERS OF BEOCHICKEN WERE MAD
ONLY ONE TAKEN BY MADNESS OR GREED WOULD GO
BEOCHICKEN HAD NEVER FAILED THE FLOCK
COMING UPON THE BURROW BEOCHICKEN SPOKE
BAWK BAWK BAKAWK
THE BRAVE TAUNT TO THE MIGHTY FOX
NO NOISE CAME OUT TO MEET THEM
BEOCHICKEN SPREAD WINGS AND SPOKE ONCE MORE
BAWK BAWK BAKAWK
THE BOLD CRIES OF THE MIGHTIEST OF FOWL RANG OUT
ONCE MORE THE CRY OF BEOCHICKEN RANG OUT
BEOCHICKEN WAS THE MIGHTIEST AND ALWAYS HAD BEEN
THE GREATEST OF THOSE WHO WOULD BRAVELY FACE HORRORS
THE FOX DID NOT COME FORTH TO FACE BEOCHICKEN
WAS BEOCHICKEN NOT WORTH THE ATTENTION OF THE FOX
BAWK BAWK BAKAWK
THE CRY OF BEOCHICKEN RANG OUT THROUGH THE DAY
THE CRY OF BEOCHICKEN RANG OUT THROUGH THE NIGHT
AND FINALLY IT COULD BE IGNORED NO MORE
THE MIGHTY FOX LEFT THE BURROW
LOOMING OVER BEOCHICKEN AND HIS FLOCK

THE SIXTH VERSE OF THE EPIC OF BEOCHICKEN

No good epic has all of its parts. At least one should be missing in the middle, to make it more legitimate. Or maybe the missing verse will come in later. Either way the 5th Verse covers his rise to power and that he was a good king. Possibly a small side adventure. Definitely when he got an eye-patch.
Verse VI
AND THUS THE END NEARED FOR THE HERO
OLD ROOSTER BEOCHICKEN STOOD
NO LONGER COULD HE WATCH HIS FLOCK
BEOCHICKEN STOOD ALONE
ONCE MORE HE WOULD SET OUT
ONCE MORE HE WOULD JOURNEY FORTH
FOR CONQUEST AND FOR GLORY
NEITHER HE NOR THE FLOCK BELIEVED
THERE WOULD BE A GREAT END
A FINAL FIGHT TO END HIS LIFE
BEOCHICKEN STRUTTED OUT
HE HAD NO REAL HOPE
EVEN SO THEY WENT TO HIM
THOSE BRAVE FOWL UNDER HIS WINGS
BEOCHICKEN DID NOT FIGHT ALONE
FORWARD TO CONQUEST
FORWARD TO GLORY
BEOCHICKEN DID NOT FIGHT ALONE

THE FORUTH VERSE OF THE EPIC OF BEOCHICKEN

Beochicken Verse IV
THUS ONCE MORE APPEARED OUR HERO
THE CHICKEN WHO HAD FOUGHT AND BLED
BLED AND FOUGHT AS HE CRAWLED TOWARD THE NEST
THE MOTHER HEN COME BACK FOR HER DEMON SPAWN
BEOCHICKEN MIGHTIEST OF FOWL STOOD TALL AGAINST
NO OTHER PATH REMAINED THE BATTERED FOWL
SOON THE FRYER MIGHT COME FOR HIM BUT NOW HE FOUGHT
TEARING AND STRIKING THE MASSIVE MOTHER
WHO HAD BROUGHT FORTH THE THREATENING OTHER
ALONE BEOCHICKEN STRUGGLED WITHOUT BLADE OR CLAW
THE HEN THREW HIM ASIDE STILL UNHARMED
BEOCHICKEN CALLED OUT
NO STRENGTH FILLED HIM AS HE CROWED
THE DARK HEN CAME UPON HIM SETTING HIS FRIGHT
HE WOULD EVER SHARE THIS TALE
THE PITIFUL DEFEAT AT THE HANDS OF THIS BEAST
BUT THAT WAS NOT THE END
NO THE HERO WOULD NOT DIE THERE
BEOCHICKEN SEARCHED AND CALLED TO NO AID
UNABLE TO LIFT UP FROM THE NEST HE FEARED
WHAT FOWL WOULD NOT FEAR IN THAT PLACE
YET IN ALL HIS FEAR HE SAW A CHANCE
IN THE NEST LAY A BROKEN BLADE
NO DOUBT TORN FROM THE LEG OF A BRAVE FOWL
IT WOULD BE THE ONE AND ONLY CHANCE
GRASPING THE BLADE IN HIS BEAK HE DREW UP
WITH ALL HIS MIGHT FADING AWAY HE ROSE UP
AS SHE CAME DOWN TO FINISH HIS TALE
THE BLADE STRUCK UP AND LODGED IN HER
THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH TO FALL THE BEAST
BEOCHICKEN WAS BROKEN AND BATTERED
HE HAD NO STRENGTH REMAINING
THAT HAD SURELY ONCE MORE BEEN THE END OF HIM
BUT UNARMED AND WITHOUT MIGHT
THE GREAT CHICKEN STILL HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO FIGHT
THE BROKEN WING OF THE MIGHTY FOWL PIERCED FORTH
LIKE A BLADE THE SHATTERED BONE PIERCED HIS FLESH
AND THE FLESH OF HIS FOE AS WELL
THIS WAS WHERE HE WOULD DIE
THAT WAS WHAT BEOCHICKEN ACCEPTED
AND WITH THAT HE SACRIFICED THE REMAINS OF HIS WING
THE DARK HEN AND ITS FOWL CHILD WERE BOTH VANQUISHED

THE THIRD VERSE OF THE EPIC OF BEOCHICKEN

Comblaf is a somewhat obtuse reference to Wiglaf, the man who follows Beowulf to face the dragon. I figure I should introduce him earlier in the story since I'm not certain this will make it that far. Though if it does that dragon will likely be a fox.

Beochicken Verse III
STRIDING THROUGH THE DARK OF NIGHT
EYES GLOWING YELLOW IN THE DEPTHS
BEOCHICKEN MOVED WITH NO CARE FOR HIS INJURIES
OFFERS OF REPRIEVE WERE REFUTED
BATTERED AND BROKEN THE HERO WOULD END IT
THE THREAT TO FOWL WOULD BE TORN ASUNDER
WHILE HIS MUSCLES ACHED HE DRUG ALONG A BLADE
THE KNIFE HAD BROUGHT DOWN MANY ON THE BUTCHER'S BLOCK
WITH IT HE WOULD BE EPT IN SPITE OF PAIN
HIS MEN HAD FLED LEAVING HIM ALONE
THOSE CHICKENS WERE NOT WORTH THEIR FEATHERS
SAVE ONE WHO STOOD BUT WAS SENT ASIDE
BUT FOR WEE CHICK COMBLAF THE SQUIRE
SON OF THE CHILD OF THE FATHER OF THE FATHER OF BEOCHICKEN
THE LONE FOWL STRODE FORTH TO THE NEST
THE THREAT GLISTENED AS IT CREPT OUT
SWUNG ROUND WITH GREAT HEFT
THE BLADE CAME ROUND WITH FORCE
THE CRASHING NOISE RANG OUT AND THUS SPOKE THE THREAT
FEATHERS AND TAR AND STEAL I BREAK
THE BROKE BLADE FELL TO THE GROUND FROM THE GRIP OF BEAK
EVEN WITH A WING TORN OFF THE THREAT STOOD GREAT
BE THEY DEVIL OR FOWL OR BEAST OR OTHER FOE
NONE WOULD STAND BEFORE THE HERO FOR LONG
CALLING UNTO THE HEAVENS BEOCHICKEN SPOKE THUS
KOO KA KOO KA KOO
THE SOUND RANG OUT AS BEOCHICKEN BOUNDED UP
HIS DAMAGED BEAK PULLED AT THE NECK OF THE THREAT
THE WRATH OF THE THREAT WAS ENDED
BEOCHICKEN LAY ON THE GROUND EXHAUSTED
THE BLOODLY DEAD DONE THE HERO COULD NOW REST
SAVE THE SOUNDS EMERGING FROM THE NEST

THE SECOND VERSE OF THE EPIC OF BEOCHICKEN

It's been more than a couple months since the release of the Prelude and Verse I of Beochicken. As in, they were released in June. I think I forgot this was something I intended to do. So, let the grand epic continue. After all, I need to finish it so I can release a ridiculous audio version. I'll probably outsource that. I haven't got the best voice for this. Actually that thing will probably not exist, but it's my current vague plan for this project.

Beochicken Verse II
ONCE THEY BEGAN THE HUNT
FROM THAT POINT HENCE
THE CHAMPION WOULD BE BEASTLY
BEFORE HE WENT TO FIGHT
FIRST THE CHAMPION WOULD PARTY
HIS FOLLOWERS WERE AS BOISTEROUS AS HE
MANY A FAIR HEN WAS WOOED
BEOCHICKEN CLASHED WITH A FEW ROO'
THOUGH NONE OF IT BROUGHT BLOOD NOR FEATHER
FROM THEIR CELEBRATION THEY FELL
UNSTEADY AND JOYOUS
INSTANTLY FELLED TO REGRET
THE THREAT CUT THROUGH
THE WORLD WAS LIKE A TOY
DARKNESS SWIRLED IN HIS WAKE
BEAST AND FOWL FELL AS HE PASSED
THE LORDS GATHERING ENDED BLOODY
BEOCHICKEN STOOD FORTH FROM HIS MEN
THEY HAD BEEN TO HUNT IT DOWN
THAT WOULD NOT DO NOW
WINGS SPREAD AND NECK RUFFLED
SCRAMBLING TO THE TWISTED FOWL
THROWING ASIDE THE FEW LEFT LIVING
THE HERO AND THE THREAT STRUCK HEAVY
ONCE MORE THEY STRUCK AT ONE ANOTHER
THE DUEL WAS ROUGH AND THE THREAT STUCK HARD
THE CHAMPION OF CHICKENS BROKE AGAINST IT
BUT HE WOULD NOT FALL ALONE
THE HERO'S BEAK CRACKED
BUT THE THREAT LOST ITS WING
TORN ASUNDER BY THE CHAMPION'S MIGHT
THE THREAT WAS FORCED TO FLEE
NO MORE WAS THE TASK AS LOW
THIS WAS A JOB NO LONGER
NOW BEOCHICKEN WAS DRIVEN
ONCE IT WAS OVER AND DONE WITH
THE THREAT WOULD BE FILET

EPIC

Some people have opinions like the word epic shouldn't be used, and I have one thing to say to that! It's still okay if I'm writing a really long poem, right? This is the tale of Beochicken! Or at least the first couple parts. I'm not sure how long this will be, but if it's anything like Beowulf the end will be nonsense. In order to remind you that all content of an epic should be shouted mightily this is written in all caps.
Beochicken Prelude
DARK FORCES BREWED AS THE WORLD WAS HEWN
IN THE EARLY AGES THE BEASTS WERE TORN ASUNDER
BLOOD BLENDS TOGETHER UNSEEN FORMS COLLUDE
WHAT REMAINED CAME FORTH AS A THREAT TO FOWL
THIS THREAT HAD NO NAME TO OWN
BUT THE ROOSTER WHO WOULD BEST IT
HE IS FOREVER WELL AND TRULY KNOWN
WITH ENDLESS MIGHT HE WOULD LOSE NO FIGHT
LO AND BEHOLD FOR 'TIS THE TALE OF BEOCHICKEN!

Beochicken Verse I
HIS WARRIORS WERE CALLED FORTH
FOR THE GOOD OF THE DAY HAD WANED
LED FORTH BY BEOCHICKEN THEY MET THEM
AS A FOWL OF MIGHT AND VALOR BEOCHICKEN STOOD
FOES IN HIS PATH HE SMOTE WITH MIGHTY PECKS
UNHINDERED BY WEAKNESS HE FACED THEM ALONE
THOSE WITH HIM COULD ONLY WATCH IN AWE
THE ENEMIES BROKE BEFORE HIS MIGHT
THEY WENT AFTER THE WARRIORS
BUT BEOCHICKEN BROUGHT NO LESSER FOWL
THE WARRIORS LASHED OUT WITH BEAK AND SPUR
AND THE FOES WERE TORN FURTHER ASUNDER
TRULY THE LORDS MUST BE WAITING FOR GOOD REASON
THESE LANDS WERE FILLED WITH DEVILISH FOES NOW
BEOCHICKEN'S WARRIORS REACHED THE HOUSE
THE ROOST OF THE LORDS OF THE LANDS
LORDS HAD FALLEN FROM ON HIGH
THE THREAT TORE THE LORDS TO SHREDS
FEW REMAINED AND THEY HAD CALLED
BEOCHICKEN STOOD FORTH FROM HIS MEN
THE LORDS TOLD HIM OF THE THREAT
BEOCHICKEN THOUGHT ON THE THREAT
THUS SPOKE THE MIGHTY HERO
CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK
BUCK BUCK BUCKAWK
COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO
AT THIS THE LORDS STARED
HIS WORDS WERE ARROGANT BUT
BEOCHICKEN HAD BEEN NEEDED AND THUS
THEY HAD NO CHOICE
THIS FOWL AND CRUDE ROOSTER
HE WOULD BE THEIR CHAMPION AND STAND
SOON HE WOULD REND THE THREAT WITH BEAK AND SPUR
