Dangers of Fall

The Dangers of Fall, Killer Trees, Angry Acorns and the Full Moon. Only a heroic chicken with a scarf can fight his way through such horrors, though even the chicken's health is already in the red.

Angel Waves

The angelic chicken's descent stopped the crashing waves and cleared the sky.

Today's piece was made as a part of a pixel art event on Twitter. The 32x64 and theme of Goblin, Waves and/or Angel were defined by such. I'd have liked to have a Goblin, but I didn't really have a place for it.

Nurse

As a special request I have drawn "a nurse with a mask," which I assumed would be trivial. Except of course the classic "Nurse Outfit" hasn't actually been a thing since before I was born. Obviously a nurse just wears scrubs, like everyone else doing anything medical. With the level of detail we have on this site though it wasn't immediately clear it was a scrub rather than, for example, a v-neck tee. So we just toss some vague medical into the background, with the IV bag and random EKGs flying around. Back to making it clearly a nurse... I added the outdated nurse's cap. This site really relies on hats to identify things in the first place.

Traditional Christmas End – December 2020 Wallpaper

Gather with me here on the internet to celebrate with the traditional ending of every Christmas. The Christmas Fowl flies away, through the crimson of dusk, upon his shining golden star, trailed by the by the waves of green that will bring spring in just a few short months.

Stealth Ace Again

The last couple Christmas Stealth Aces successfully aced stealth and was surrounded by christmas presents. This time our brave here traveled to the source and has been securely hiding on a Christmas Tree farm.

Ornament

A standard ornament from the dollar store, but with a casual scribble like a child did it. It will no doubt be a highlight on any Christmas tree.

Card Suits

These are old. I made them in September of 2017 and never followed up with my vague intent of making standard playing cards. I started thinking it was a good idea again and found them in a folder on my computer when I went to save some new half finished designs, which I suppose I'll find in a few years and post then.

Leaving aside any new designs let me talk about these ones. I don't remember my thoughts because I don't actually remember making these. Slightly less standard 4 color suits. Spades should normally be black in those scenarios, but as every suit has black being used for both the outline and the inner chicken, gray is an acceptable alternative. I like the spiral in the round suits, thought it does make the set less consistent.

I posted these on twitter, honestly assuming I posted them here forever ago and had simply forgotten.

Painter

Yes, I am skillful artist. Admire this fine piece and more importantly the piece within the piece, which is obviously the important part. Using a refreshing brown on a pleasant off-white eggshell canvas.

The Target

The assassin saw a photo of the target, one "M. Rooster." The accusations against it were vague, but the assassin wasn't particularly moral, given their profession. The client asked for the body to be delivered and rumor had it M Rooster was going to be cooked and eaten. Truly terrifying, even to the assassin.

Facing Darkness

The brave warrior had faced many dangers and gained many treasures but the darkness constantly tried to encroach on what tenuous connections to reality he had left. 

Glad to bring you this vague fantasy/Cthulhu thing. I'd declare the next post's theme but I can't think of one right now. Vague Scifi perhaps?

Wizard

Magic is truly the most squiggly of all vague concepts. While the scraggly wizard is safe in his blue, around him the air is dyed red.

Sunrise

To be perfectly clear this is not how the sun works, at all. That being said the bird presents the beauty of the rising sun. Observe the full beauty of something that superficially resembles nature

Dull Sky

The muted colors of winter leave me feeling a bit blue. Still, it's a beautiful time of year all the same.

Winter

Well, it's winter now. Enjoy this snowy chicken...

Snow and stars are both random spatters of white dots when I draw them so use your own judgement for how much of the background is stars and how much is snow.

November 2020 Wallpaper – Wild Calm

There are two sides to every coin, and two aspects of every bird. Be overwhelmed with your blissful madness and depressed stoicism! On this day will you be Wild or Calm?

I tried several shading and color variants for this piece but the flat muted colors looked best.

Turkey Night

As night grew near the turkey could only stand surprised, but triumphant. It has survived the holiday yet again.

Wrap

This humble bird is wearing a stylish wrap about its neck. There aren't any hidden secrets or mysterious clues to share.

Bolt

With a bolt from the blue the chicken appeared out of the darkness to make a stylish entrance and save the day.

Simpler

I wanted to use some more simple shapes than I have been tending to lately. This piece is pointier and has less distinct curves.

While it isn't my intention I feel like it has a nice N64-esque low poly 3D feel. I've attempted to make some 3D chickens before but they were mostly quite bad. I would like to give it another shot some time.

Fighting

Two birds locked in combat. Forever lashing out at one another in the endless darkness. In the end there is only one true winner, and that is their firm friendship. After fighting for so long they have bonds that can never be broken.

Still Cool

Is this still cool? The answer is trivial. Cool can only be measured through a ratio of hair height, sunglasses and confidence. That last one is hard to project in an image, but wearing sunglasses at inappropriate times is usually a sign that you aren't.

Loincloth

The red loincloth was originally a lovely taupe, but now it is forever stained dark red, with the well cooked blood of it's prepared root vegetables. Despite countless claims that it is a violent barbarian in a loincloth it is quite confident in its identity as a cook with an apron.

Godzilla Day

Happy Godzilla Day everyone. Today is the 66th anniversary of the classic film's release. I celebrated it by watching the American version, featuring Raymond Burr. I generally prefer the Heisei films though.

This isn't my ideal giant chicken monster, but one that embraces a firm Godzilla motif and aesthetic. I tried to capture the iconic square face and used the ridge shape for the crown.

As for other things going on today this is a website where I draw chickens in MS Paint.

Full Moon Night

Without the expected trick or treaters the reveling ghosts and ghouls stood out all on their own this fateful Halloween night.

October 2020 Wallpaper – Money

This month's wallpaper has a clear focus, material wealth, which is the deepest and most obvious of all desires. The Chicken $1, $2, and $5, along with the Chicken Penny and Chicken Quarter coins show a wide array of Chicken currencies. As to why the $2 is purple I'm not really sure. It's a nice contrast from all of the green. Finally the form of a golden chicken creates a visual focal point

By The River

In today's thrilling chickenmaker.net we have another fine chicken made by our many fine artists here at chickenmaker.net, which is just me. I am all of the artists on this site, except when I'm not, which is almost never.  We have a slightly different perspective today thanks to the background and the lovely river it contains. Feel free to watch the video, below.

Pumpkin Carving

Nobody really knows how to carve a pumpkin. You can only get kind of close to what you're aiming for and confidently say "Yeah, that more or less a chicken."

I should probably do this one IRL at some point. It would look vaguely like a chicken to be sure.

Wobble

I would like to make this an animated GIF or similar but I'm not sure. I don't think it would be sufficiently interesting to look at if it just bounced back and forth like I imagine it doing.

I like the off-brown and dark blue background. I've grown weary of the refreshing green and sky blue I tend to use without thinking.

Wavy Demon

This is a wavy demon, it's dark powers rippling through it's body. The shining red eye stares out from its warped visage. How long can one truly look upon it and still keep to their original self? 

I say at least an hour or two. It's a cool looking one.

Desert Walker

A chicken walks across the sand, unsure where it is going and unsure if there will be anything to eat heading deeper and deeper into the seemingly endless wastes. As a proud descendant of jungle fowl this was no place for the bird to be walking, at least in its arrogant opinion.

This is, of course, unrelated to the similarly named Desert Wanderer.

Bird GB

A Gameboy classic style chicken sprite. I've always been fond of the mono-green aesthetic.

Ghost Bird

The flying spectral head of a fallen bird streaked across the room, laughing and crowing. The uneven shape left some with cruel accusations that it was actually a dog, leaving it sad and depressed.

Bloodshot

Large bloodshot eyes stared into the screen. The horrors and truths found on the internet left the bird's mind twisted. Some day, surely it's mind would recover, so long as it lived long enough.
 

Lab

The massive super chicken strode through the lab, leaving torn chunks of those who had experimented on it in its wake. Where would it escape to? Where could it escape to?

I think I'll go ahead and do spooky throughout the month instead of my usual 3-5 on Halloween. Or maybe in addition.

Manual Distortion

Well, I said in a Patreon post that I was going to manually distort something so I figured I would do a quick demonstration on that. The base image is a generic chicken then we have warped and color distorted versions. My personal favorite is just the light fuzziness though so I'm showing that one first here.

It scares me and I think I truly hate it, but I feel like I'm really breaking out of the Chicken Maker mold with this. Maybe I needed this slow month of posts.

Looking Down

The bird looked down on those below it's notice. It was up in the starry sky and didn't need to be compared to them.

Of course with the constant snobbish looking down it was clearly comparing itself to them all the time, but it was too pompous to acknowledge that.

September 2020 Wallpaper – Pixel BG

This piece was designed at a smaller resolution, then scaled in a nearest neighbor fashion. From there we manually applied some light distortion effects to make everything pop a bit more.

As for the subject matter I would say "vaguely space"

Wobble

Rather than straight lines in this piece we have very wobbly lines. This makes it better probably. The straight horizontal sections in the background help to provide emphasis.

Devil Wings

These aren't the colors I started with in this piece and I really felt like the body detracted from the design so I just chopped it. Most importantly though how is this not an actual brand name?

Single Stroke 2

I made several attempts at drawing a chicken in a single click. I'm not sure why the older ones are so rough though. I didn't spend that long on this one.

On that note the image I have called "Single Stroke" doesn't actually appear to be on this site, which is probably fine as it's quite bad.

Weather

Nature is full of amazing forces. The weather fowl gathered the power of both lightning and tornadoes, allowing it to face off against any sort of Snow Cat or Drought Dog.

Space Chicken Jagger

Just needed a new logo for my long lasting fantasy football team, the Space Chickens, so I present to you Space Chicken Jagger. Somewhere between an evil galactic emperor and a star sheriff we'll always have the Space Chicken.

Round Warrior

Despite its large girth the round warrior had trained tirelessly day in and day out so that no matter what befell it there would still be a chance for survival.

In the end both the ground and sky were stained with the blood of its enemies.

August 2020 Wallpaper – Shatter

The image is 'shattered' and the shards are all styled slightly differently. I had originally intended each section to be more different than they are but it was distracting to look at so I made the colors and styles more consistent, though it seems a bit wrong to think of this wide array of grays consistent.

As always these wallpapers are brought to you by my supporters on Patreon. In truth I'm rather fond of the WIP posted on Patreon for this one, where the various sections were just different bright colors. It wasn't really a finished piece by any means though.
