This chicken is in gray-scale. In case you weren't aware makign something in gray-scale is actually more effort than making it in color. Why this is I've never been entirely certain but it is. Probably because I tend to think in color since that's how I see. I can ever make pretty accurate guesses at colors while looking at these sorts of things. Also I like his big old beak. It's a stylish attribute. And of course he's looking off to the side, ready to jump into action.
Swiggly Chicken
By

3:42 PM
This chicken is in an extremely excited mood so I set him up in a very swiggly way. He's all ready to squack about and eat worms, or whatever it is he might feel like doing. His wings are especially scrappy so he's a new favorite. I also like the scrawled sort of feet.
And yeah, I've been a bit sporadic... mostly because Blogger is suddenly not allowing me to post images with my usual browser. I guess that's what I get for using a less popular browser. I like Opera, but I had to post this with Internet Explorer. Not really any excuse to argue. I might decide to mess around with a few other browsers.

Flag-Be

Decided to get some america going, but I ended up making the white stripes too pink. Still, I'm happy with this nice American sillhouette. Got some stars and some stripes.
And if you're not American I don't know your flag well enough to twist it into a chicken-based doodle. I mean I know it, but I can't think of anything interesting to do with it. I mean I'd want to do not Red White and Blue but most of the not series of colored line based ones are those colors(since England took over the world back when) so...
Faded Ink

5:39 PM
Okay, back.I took a short break there but I have actually gotten a couple chickens that look pretty good so I'll post up a couple today.
With this piece I tried to capture the appearence of ink faded on a cloth. I think that as far as coloration goes I more or less have it, but I didn't apply a texture over it, which I probably would have had to use not Paint to do at any rate. So, all in all pretty good, though I didn't really get what I was going for. Oh, also I changed to a more frontal angle than usual, but ended up being slightly to the left anyways out of habit.

New Layer: Speed Run End
By

1:04 PM
Well, I finished this as 1:01 by my clock so I managed 4
It's been a while since I did one of these sorts of crazy ones but I think it came out pretty well, all things considered(like the fact I did it in 10 minutes)
I didn't really think that much about this one so I haven't got much to say. It seems feminine to me, though I'm not sure why.

Rapid Insanity
By

12:49 PM
This is a showing of the concept of insanity in the form of a rapidly crated chicken. If he had been sensible then things would have been much more distinct. Instead the madness of his creation left only a confused jumble to be seen in his wake, and him having no true place he could stay and call his own.
Yellow and Gold
By
Chicken Maker
12:42 PM
This one's Yellow and Gold. I decided to make a chicken all in Yellows and Oranges because why not. He gives me an impression of being a shiny golden god sort of chicken. Now, I know what you're wondering. Why doesn't he have pupils. The answer is, of course, because he's a man without morals
2nd Speed Run: Let's GO! Drawn in a Flash
By

12:35 PM
It's been a while so I'm doig another speed run. Let's see how many I can get before 1 o'clock, which looks to be about 30 minutes away. What do you say? Okay, 1, 2, 3 and GO!
Regardless This chicken was Drawn in a Flash. He's got a nice jagged swooping style. I'm not sure why I think of it was being a jagged swooping style but that's how it seems to me. Basically he just reminds me of a snake's tongue. Okay BAM! One down.

Passion's Dance
By
Chicken Maker
4:02 PM
This chicken is dancing a passionate dance of such force that he leaves a glowing impression of his passion in his wake on the world. His focus is not absolute that he couldn't even notice his surroundings, but at the same time those around him can see his passion and wouldn't even think to interfere with him.

The Gritty Striding is one of the artist's more recent pieces. The development of the style stands out in that at a glance the piece retains the same general feel as what it started with. However the lay of the darkness and strong contrasts between colors seem to have improved. The image as a whole is emptier, containing more of the main element but without any background for it to stand against it has little to lean against on its failings. The sudden cut off of the right side leaves the image feeling unfinished. Overall the image presents a stark impression and powerful motion.

One Year Later
By
Chicken Maker
1:50 PM
Today is the site anniversary. Now, if you're anything like me, this comes as a complete shock. I assumed this would burn down after a few months. It'd last until September at most. Now, I wasn't really sure what to do for it at first but it came to me in a flash. I'd get one of them fancy shmancy web-domains, but then I remembered that http://www.chickenmaker.com/ was taken so it was too much hassle and was unsure again.
So, then I put it off for a while then BAM! It hit my like a bus. It's St. Patrick's Day. So, I'm just gonna green up some of my personal favorites from the past year.
On a side note... yes Anniversaries do count as holidays. Though I guess this goes in there regardless, huh?
Shades McCoolGuy is cutting in with a special appearance. Just think of this as a holiday special. It's a pretty good one I'd say. It's set between the 2nd and 3rd parts because that's where random specials go if you have a trilogy.
This cyborg chicken was one of my earlier ones. I think of it as one of the better ones, though the waddle is very poorly drawn and I'd have never stood for that sort of quality if I'd made it fresh today.
The Gritty Sharpness is the best style ever, no doubt. It even works in Green. Look how cool he is.
Also for a short while I'll be trying out one of those "You may also like" things. I'll decide to keep it or not depending on how intrusive it seems after a while.

Okay. We have a chicken with a blue collar. You know a hard working type. Then he's got his darker counterpart who is doing everything backwards. Interpret as you will.

Snob
By

6:02 PM
This is a snobby snobby rich guy. You can tell because of the tuxedo vest and monocle. I think he looks like a jerk who would buy out your company then fire everyone and laugh about it because he's so rich.
Also I see now that I made a mistake and made his waddle black but let's just justify that by saying he dyed it.

No, I didn't make the motion blur myself. I tried but it was beyond me without using Photoshop so I just Googled one. anyways this is Sonic the Hedgehog, only this one's a chicken. I'm sure you understand. It's not very complex. I like the Sonic eyes. I think they came out well. I may use it on some guys in the future.
I was inspired to make this one by Alex Day's song Sonic Doesn't Need a Story. You can listen to it at his website there, along with his other fancy songs

gentle strokes
By
Chicken Maker
10:54 PM
The gentle strokes used in the creation of this piece were more important this time around than making distinct outlines or the colors to work with, which is, in fact, why the eye isn't colored in. The smooth motions in the creation gave it a look that stands out among the Chicken Maker collection

Ear Haver
By
Chicken Maker
8:35 PM
Well, I decided to do a bit of research today. I looked at a picture and stared at it for a bit. Then I noticed that dangling pale thing. It turns out it's basically an ear. Don't expect them to show up too much. Much like human ears I don't like drawing them. There's a nice swash to them though.
Also this picture is more or less a flipped version on the one on top of this Wikipedia page.

Square Eyes
By
Chicken Maker
8:44 PM
Square Eyes here... I don't really like. He's a chicken. You know, sorta back to the basics. Then I stared for a while and decided I needed him to have some cool eyes. I like the way the eyes came out though. I'm not actually sure what it is I don't like about him. Is it the colors? Is he too close to skin-flesh? No, that's not really a problem. A bit offsetting but not a reason to dislike him. I like his generally dazed and confused appearance, but I dislike something about him.

Back Swing
By
Chicken Maker
9:23 PM
Here I have a new chicken I'm calling Backswing. I call him that because in the back I swing in a second much larger version of the same chicken. At least I assume that's why. Really I just name that mostly at random when I finish. Back Swing seems pretty appropriate though. I think I did a much better job on the effect this time than last time I tried it, which was quite a while ago. also I just like the way the initial, front type, chicken looks. It took me a while to decide on his coloration. I decided on the red in the end though.

Here we have the letter M. It's made of two chicken styled pointy bits. I think it looks pretty good, though the combs probably could have used a bit of flare. Sorry this one's so short but I've strangely enough already run out of things to say about this one.

Dual Chicken - Epilogue
By
Chicken Maker
3:34 PM
And now, after putting it off forever i post up the epilogue for Dual Chicken. This project is finished now. I doubt I'll ever come back to it, but I had a lot of fun with it and I really improved my chicken work as it went.
Boring Part
News Report:
Following the destruction of the AFEM headquarters the Dual Chicken vanished and mutant incidents seem to have declined. Still, a new taskforce has been formed to maintain the defense against them. The mass genocide of the mutations and questionable methods employed by AFEM will be avoided if possible. Former Detective R. Martin refused to comment, saying "I'm done with all that. I'm going to be a farmer or something."

Today's piece isn't anything new. It's just a simple black chicken against a blue background. The Chicken feels pretty sharp. I think that's the way it ought to be.
